I have the mbp 2.4ghz model with led back lit display. I started to notice the screen sort of "flickers" with horizontal transparent bars, sort of like when you point a camera at a tv and see those black bars moving top to bottom but the bars on my screen are not as thick and transparent and there is more of them (closely together) . I doesn't do it all the time but it happens often and sometimes you just see it on certain parts of the screen or you see thru the whole screen. Is happening with anyone else and is it fixable or can i go back to the apple store and exchange it for a new one?

That's not normal, go get a new one while you can. Sounds like either a vid card issue or maybe a loose cable somewhere. You may want to try a reinstall first, might just be a driver issue. (But then I'd wonder why a brand new install from apple was corrupted, so you might as well just get a new one)

I would be ringing the alarm bells at that.

just make sure you know that you can reproduce the problem for them. Otherwise you may have to leave the mac with them for a day so they can sit it next to them during the day to monitor it...

good luck!

it seems you can only see it when there is a certain color on the screen like the color light blue when osx boots up and shuts down. and grays , i had a background picture that had black white and grays and you see it and it seems to get worse the longer the laptop is on. now i have the leopard grass background and you dont see it at all. Im going to bring it in as soon as i can. thanks

Seems to be very common. Check here: Apple - Support - Discussions - LED Screen Flicker ...

I returned one MBP 15" LED for this reason. Almost all of the 15" LED MBP's I've seen in 3 apple stores have this flicker when lowering the brightness to anything but max. Some have it worse than others. Some say they don't see any flicker, but I've seen it with varying degrees almost all 15" LED MBP's in the 3 stores I've been in.
