hey guys

my macbook has shut down without warning 2 times now when the battery is starting to get low. the first time it happened when the battery was at 20% remaining. i can turn it back on but it will turn off again.

today it happened again except at 33% remaining.

is this the beginning of random shutdowns? I havent had any previous problems like this before. I've had my macbook since may of 06.

thanks

Have you performed a battery calibration? Have you installed the battery software update if applicable? How many cycles on the battery?

If none if this applies, it could simply be a bad battery, especially if you have a lot of cycles on it.

David, are you still having this problem?

I'm in pretty much the same situation: Macbook 13", about 9 months old, shows 230 cycles on the battery. I'm starting to experience random shutdowns but only when battery level is getting below say 35%.

If I'm running on battery only it will shutdown about 4-5 times before finally getting down to zero. And meanwhile, it doesn't seem to go into sleep mode, it just keeps going and showing 0% towards the end.

I'm trying to do a calibration now, see if that helps (ie. fully charge, discarge, and charge)

There's a battery recall for Rev. A Macbooks out, might want to look into it.
