OK, so after the misery of installing a new harddrive for my iBook G4, the OS X discs won't recognize the hard drive!
I have booted the OS X installer --> Disk Utility, but the only thing that shows up is the CD drive. I know I need to partition my hard drive, but I cant even find it on this damned machine!
Hard drive installs in a G4 iBook are not easy. The good news is that your 'Book boots with the install CD. The bad news is that if Disk Utility can't see the drive, it is most likely because as far as the computer is concerned the drive isn't there. Something went wrong during the installation. I don't think you have much choice but to crack that thing back open and make sure the ribbon cable is connected correctly. Good luck!
It may be a firmware issue, the G4 iBooks cannot run 10.2, only 10.3+. I am not sure as to why you have 10.2 discs but as far as I recall, the first G4 iBooks where released along with 10.3.
