Hi, I'm going to get a new MBP 15" and was wondering if there 128VRAM vs 256VRAM would make a noticeable difference when connected to a 30" Cinema Display.

Can the 128VRAM model run the monitor well enough? Thanks.

I am in the same boat as you and would also like to know how the 128mb card will handle such a high resolution, especially once things like spaces come out with leopard.

If it helps, the 2.4 with 256vram MBP plugged in just fine to a 30 inch cinema and it was just as fast as the Mac Pro so the 128 should be acceptable in performance.

My best friends drives his 23 ACD HD with the puny integrated graphics of his MacBook … You'll be fine.

For best results you may want to use the MBP in closed mode so that the graphics card can dedicate the full 128 MB to the ACD.

When the macbook pro is in closed lid mode, you set up your desktop and wallpaper etc. for the 30" screen. If you unplug the screen and open the MBP, what happens to your desktop since it is now a smaller res. Does it allow you to have different desktop setups for each res and remember each setup?

Unless you are a gamer and need a really high frame rate on complex graphics the MBP with 128 will be fine.
