Yes mine arrived today. I'm just curious if this is normal for all new MBP and i have to get used to it, because my powerbook g4 doesn't do this.

MBP is most definitely indexing (spotlight) hence the heat and fan. If should settle down.

Still, you could check "all processes" in Activity Monitor (utilities) to see what's grabbing the MBP's attention. Also, what speed is the fan at and how hot is it getting? What's the ambient room temperature?

After installing aperture, the machine got into some intensive work and definately go to "loud and working on something" mode. I'm not sure this vibration has to do with a heavy process load. What would spotlight be indexing non stop on a freshly installed mbp?

Don't you think the vibration is coming from the HD rather than the fans?

This vibration was coming from the HD. Guess what - HD died last week, and after the replacement, its absolutely silent and vibration free for the first time ever.

Much happier. Wish they listened when I complained in the begining
