Hey,

My old hard drive died, so I bought a new Seagate 60GB laptop hard drive. The problem is that after taking 2 hours installing the new hard drive, Tiger's Disk utility won't detect my new hard drive.

Everything else is working fine, and my logic board is fine also. Did I forget to do something, or did I not tighten something enough when closing up the shells and everything?

I was very careful, didn't touch anything uselessly and all. I did an Apple Hardware Test and everything is fine, except the in the mass storage section, it's written:

Hard drive : (blank)
ATA: 3D...

Any ideas?

What model computer and what symptoms did your original failed hard drive give you?

Based on what you've said so far, I would open it up again and double check the installation, particularly the connector to the new hard drive.

If you have an external 2.5 inch enclosure, you could test the new drive to be sure its working. You could also test the old drive to be sure it was the fault, and not the logic board.

iBook G4 1.33 GHZ 14"

My last hard drive just died and during the disk utility checkup it said to replace the hard drive. But what is this 2.5 inch enclosure thing? Never seen it before or it doesnt exist on this model?

Thanks for the help also... ive probably misdone something ill check now.
