I also have a Macbook pro. I have a second monitor attached to it. While I have no problem showing different backgrounds on each monitor, I can't get the same background to stretch across both monitors. I want a wide background image to display across both monitors. Half on one and the other half on another.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

You will have to do that manually, take the background image of choice and chop it up into monitor-sized pieces.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Wow, considering this is very simple to do on my windows boxes and laptops I thought it would be easy as well on my new Mac. I love my new macbook, but I must admit I am very surprised that something so simple is not possible without having to hand edit the background image.

Oh well, thanks for the quick answer.

Well, how many users would want this? It adds a new "Preference" when most multiple screen users are graphic artists. Chopping a pic. in half for a desktop is a small price.

What happens on Windows then when I have 13 monitors, a row of seven, a column of seven?

It's "easy to do" on Windows because it's just something that if you expand the idea makes no sense, really.

How would you do it in Windows without the use of 3rd party apps? This is assuming both monitors are *not* of the same resolution.
