HI,

I have 1.5 Gig right now and I am wondering if going to 2 Gig would increase or decrease battery life? since Leopard is coming I am assuming that memory would be good to have especially considering that the latest MBP comes with 2 Gig out of the box and that is usually a sign that Apple consider that the minimum.

Also, Now that a hitachi 7200RPM 100G can be had for $99 has anyone got one and noticed a speed improvement or any negative immpact on battery?

Thanks

/Peter

2GB would marginally decrease battery life... but I doubt it's enough of a change to notice.

7200RPM drives won't have a noticeable impact on battery life, but are good if your usage is seek-time sensitive.

I think that you can never have enough ram. I'm constantly using all of my 2 gigs and I am considering going the 4 gig option... just my two cents.

Get all the RAM you can afford-even if it means cheap mac&cheese for dinner for a while. I have REALLY appreciated the difference between 1G and 2G on my MBP. Programs open faster, files save faster, everything seems to be more responsive. It's all because OS X likes to have plenty of elbow room.

By the way, I got my 2G upgrade (2 separate 1G SO-DIMMS) from Newegg; they had a sale with the items costing about $50 each but with a $20 rebate each. Keep your eyes open and you'll find great deals without much fuss.
