Hello,
I am tired of PCs and decided to make a move to APPLE. I have worked with apple in the past recording audio and my experience has been excellent.
Can anyone tell me if the Macbook Pro is powerfull enough to record audio with protools, reason, digital performer? and if 2gb of ram is enough?
I am considering the macbook pro (cheapest version on the apple store) or the faster imac...
Thanks for your comments and help on this subject!

it's more than fine.
i'm running reason & logic on a 1.5g powerbook, and it's (almost) always good.
one of my collaborators uses a macbook, which gets the job done.
a mbp will KILL...!

From what i have heard it will eat your programs like a snack, some of the computers in the apple store might have the programs, i might suggest to go there and try em out.

As long as you've got plenty of RAM then those progs. should be delightful on the MBP, also if you're doing CRAZY type post prod on your tracks and using like a million chanels then you might see a bit of a lag, but that is unlikely. You'll love it.

By processing power, the lowest-end MacBook (non-Pro) is more than fine for your needs.
It does not have an ExpressCard expansion slot, though, and it is limited to 2GB RAM, so you might still go for the Pro.
Another BIG advantage of the MacBook over the MacBook Pro (aside from transport) is that the hard drive is VERY easily swappable. Exchanging the hard drive on a MB Pro should it die is a real pain.
