1. These are Apple's laptop range. The Powerbooks are old models, the aluminum is the most recent, the titanium older. They are not produced any more. The macbook is the new intel consumer line, the macbook pro is the pro model. Check Apples website for the spec differences.
2. Check Apples website.
3. Not legally.

Powerbooks and iBooks are no longer being made, although you can get them refurbished or used. The Macbook Pro is comes with either a 15 or 17 inch screen, and is more of a professional model. The Macbook has a 13 inch screen, making it a bit more portable. Lots of other differences... I suggest you go to the Apple website and look at the specifications.
You cannot run OS X on a PC, (generally speaking) but you can run Windows (Vista, etc.) on a Intel-based Macintosh.
If you've got an Apple store in your area, you might like to check them out in person. Good luck, and welcome to the world of the Mac.

The others have answered your questions pretty well so I'll just add that if you are new to Apple and depending on whether you get an older Mac or a recent one you have to pay attention to the compatibility of the software you are using. As already mentioned the PowerBooks and iBooks are older Macs and are also referred to as PowerPC. When finding software for these computers you should find ones that are made for "PowerPC" and not the ones made for Intel Macs.

MacBook and MacBook Pro are Intel based Apples so you should used software made for Intel Macs. You can use software made for PowerPC but it doesn't run as efficiently on an Intel Mac. It's best to use the Intel version if there is one available.

Until everyone upgrades to the Intel Macs you'll notice that most of the popular Mac software will have both versions. Some of the less popular software only have the Intel version because they either don't have the time or resources to make both versions. Macs will have Intel chips from now on so if you want a computer that will last you into the future then get an Intel version. If you are going to be playing games then you should get a more recent computer anyway.

I'd like to add that there are not multiple versions of OSX i.e. OSX Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Ultimate etc. It will run on any of those machines. Of course, the more powerful the machine, the faster it will run.

I think your questions are a little beyond the scope of this thread - where do you live? A trip to an Apple store might be a really good idea. Windows software does not automatically run on Macs, although Apple versions of the programs you mention exist. You can run windows on Intel Macs, but it requires additional settup.

You can install xp (I'm not sure vista is fully supported yet). There are two ways to do it - dual booting, where you choose, on startup, which os you want. This has the advantage that it is fast, but you have to restart to switch os. The other way is to use Parallels to run a copy of windows alongside OS X - this is a bit slower, but you have both at the same time. You have to set this up yourself - the machine does not come with this. You need a copy of windows, and a copy of Parallels.

PC Software and Mac software
Nero = Mac OS X has many built in burning features, Toast
Firefox = Firefox
Skype = Skype
Office = Office
Acrobat = Acrobat
Nokia, motorola, Treo, etc, just go to their web site and download the appropriate software.
I have no idea what you mean by power DVD or DVB player softs.
What is your native language?

You can't use PC software on Macs. Sorry about confusing you. Intel Macs are not PC compatible. They are just Macs with Intel chips built inside but they are not PCs. You have to find software that is made for Intel Macs for best performance if you are getting a MacBook or MacBook Pro. You might want to read Apple's help site to help you switch from Windows to Mac.

If you don't have places near you that sell Apple software then you can always buy them off the internet from places like Amazon.

It just depends on what you do most of the time on your computer. MacBooks are nice but if you play a lot of video games then you might want to get a MacBook Pro. If you only play games occasionally then a MacBook might be good enough for you. What do you usually do on the computer?

They go by numbers and names. For example 10.2, 10.3, 10.4 which are Jaguar, Panther, and Tiger. The one that is going to come out soon is 10.5 Leopard. The most current is 10.4.10 Tiger.

But don't worry about the versions - there is only one current version - 10.4 (Tiger). 10.5 (Leopard) comes out in the fall.

Why didn't you mention Boot Camp or Parallels? Apple's current line of computers are PCs. They just run a different OS out of the box.

For Dual Booting, yes, you'll want to install Mac OS X first. There is a program you will need to download called Boot Camp. This will help you set up your computer for booting either OS X or Windows XP.

As others have mentioned, you also might want to check out Parallels. Parallels allows you to run Mac OS X and Windows XP simultaneously.

seebche, those Macbook Pros are no longer available for sale. The latest version for me here in the States is 1999USD, with similar (but slightly better specs) than what you have listed; however, if you have an educational discount (as a college student), you can get another 200USD+ discounted from the price.

Of course, places such as Macmall.com sell the older model you have listed at much lower prices (it is 1549USD there, but note that that model is not the current one). Or, alternatively, you can buy a refurbished model from Apple itself for a modest discount.
