I just noticed today that on my month-old Macbook (mid-model), that there's a squealing noise coming from the left side. I can only hear it if my ear is within a few inches. It's quite high pitched and seems to stutter.

I don't know if I've missed this before, or if it just started. I tried unplugging everything from it, and when I unplugged the power connector, it goes away and I only hear the fan. Plugging in, it comes back. I don't hear it when I put the MB to sleep, even with the power cord plugged in.

Any help would be appreciated!

"Sounds" odd, pun intended. Got a friend with one? Or an Apple store somewhere nearby? Seriously, it doesn't sound right, unplugging it may not diagnose anything, though. You could try it as a pick up line at a Starbucks/Borders/Panera!

This could be due to the DC-in board being damaged by the AC Adapter. It can give off a high-pitched buzzing sound, which is what you're describing. I'd get it to an authorized retailer ASAP.

Well, I had it looked at by the local authorized repair shop and they replaced the logic board and the DC-in board. However, the noise still persists. It makes me wonder if it's something else (the AC adapter itself?) or if it's just an annoying but harmless noise. I could live with it if it's doing no harm. But I'm not sure what I should do.
