Hi guys, i currently own a MBP with 2.2Ghz overclocked to 2.3Ghz, 2GB of RAM, 120HD, and LED screen. What I'm wondering is this, I know that the MBP comes with a RAM that is at 667MHZ, but can the MBP accept a RAM that runs at 800MHZ (DDr2-6400 basically) ? Thank you for your time!

higher speed ram is usually backwards compatible, but does not mean that it will run at those higher speeds.

to answer your question, there's no point in running faster memory because the mac won't take advantage of it.

Yes, DDR-6400 will run fine at DDR-5300 speeds in the MBP. The only reason to do this would be because the former is cheaper than the latter. Have the prices really inverted themselves already?

Doh, I was hoping that the MBP could run it at 800MHZ not backwards compatible. Only reason I want that is so that when my 8600MGT integrates with it in XP, it's memory would be running at 800MHz instead of 667Mhz. Ah well, can't have everything you want.

Huh? The 8600M GT has it's own dedicated VRAM... it doesn't use the system RAM.
