One: Is there a way to manually eject a CD from a Macbook. It has eaten one of my friend's CD and it won't give it back. (I've tried rebooting while holding down the click, no luck.)

Two: How do you go about getting a replacement computer out of Applecare? I know some have done it and it's time I pursue this. This is the 4th time I have had a mechanical problem with this machine; third time for the drive.

1. I believe there is a manual eject activator just inside the slot, but you should do a quick search on the Apple KB just to make sure.

2. If the same part has failed more than 3 times, you're eligible for a replacement machine.

Thanks.

They helped me get the disc out and I'm holding right now to talk to someone about replacing this lemon.

Oh, this is rich.

I knew it might happen, but I had to try it anyway. I burned a back-up DVD before shipping this thing off, and--you guessed it--I can't coax it out of the drive.

Did they have you go into open firmware (command-option-O-F on boot) and typing "eject cd"?

Intel Macs don't have Open Firmware.
