So my hard drive crashed and I had install a new one.

While installing Mac OSX disc 2 on my macbook, I got an error at 10 percent - this happened 6 times in a row ...I tried cleaning the CD etc etc, but nothing has worked. The CD has some scratches on it so I am hoping that is why it is not installing. The first disc installed fine.

I got another copy of mac OSX but its only on 1 disc but everytime I start the macbook up it goes into asking me for Disc 2 and wont read anything but the disc 2.

How can I re format my drive so I can re install OSX again from the start? What do I hold down in terms of keys or what do I do so I can go back to the beginning before the 1st osx disc was installed...

Please help!

Which version of OS X? Or are these the install disks that came with your machine?

Boot with Disk 1 in the drive holding the "c" key. From the Utilities menu once the installer loads, select Disk Utility to format and check the drive.
