Does anybody has experience with audio recording making use of a Macbook in combination with an Edirol UA-25 USB interface and Logic Express?

When I am recording audio (mic/instruments) on my Toshiba Satellite under Win XP home with the UA-25 (and also a POD XT) I experience audio interruptions (tics), which is most probably caused by IRQ sharing amongst all USB 2.0 ports on the Toshiba. No cure can be found. This is why I am thinking about bying a Macbook and Logic Express to overcome this irritating problem and to use them with my UA-25. The UA-25 has Mac driver (OS X and lower versions). But does this interface work properly with an Macbook?

I believe I'm right in saying people tend to use firewire interfaces with logic because firewire is lower latency than USB. But I could be utterly wrong.
