Yesterday I removed bootcamp and parallels then ran disk warrior as my HD could not verify in Disk Utility. That all works fine now but I'm left with no sound? Also my HD seems to be dying as it is clunking in top left hand corner randomly. Could it be related? Only had the MBP for a year and have had soooo many problems with it! I still love it to pieces obviously...

Hi, did you ever have sound? Did you install XP or Vista and then have sound issues?
Did you check the volume isn't muted? There should be a volume control icon in the menu on your desktop.
Check the Sound prefs:
System Preferences -> Sound -> Output
For Sound Output you should have Internal Speakers with Built-In Output listed in the box ... check the Output Volume and that there isn't a check in the 'Mute' box.
Next, navigate to:
MacintoshHD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Audio MIDI Setup
Launch the Audio MIDI Setup
(pressing Command + U will open your Utilities Folder)
I've uploaded an attachment screenshot of my Audio MIDI configuration, which is stock standard. Check your config against mine, paying attention to the info in the Format: pull-down menu which is under the Audio Output section. Yours should be set to 44100.0 Hz which is the default.
Sometimes this setting is changed by another application and I've seen several instances where setting this back to the default fixed the sound issue.
Fingers X-d.
