ok..so i have a mac powerbook g4...

the right hinge where the screen meets the base has snapped...and the red and white wire are now exposed...
every once in a while, when i would start my laptop and open it up...the wires would come in contact with eachother and the screen would short out. all i had to do was close it, open, and restart, and i would by fine...but any major movement shorted out the screen

so now the screen isnt working at all..well sorta,

if you hold a lamp or a light source up to the screen, you can see the display, but just normally you cant see anything....does that mean the backlight it out? maybe some simple re wireing would help this out...

im not sure..any one have this problem?

let me know what i can do..this has been a problem for quite some time

thanks alot

This sounds serious to me .... I'd suggest taking it in to an AppleStore for repair straight away.

Maybe if you upload a screenshot of the base, where it has snapped, someone else might have more direct advice you can take but I'd wouldn't be using it for fear of the problem escalating.

Take it to the Apple Store. I don't think there's much that you personally can do.

Curiously, I've found that my hinge is a bit looser than it used to be too....
