thinking about it, usually i only use a laptop for internet, however not knowing when the new imacs were coming out i decided to sell my g5 imac about a month, as well as my HP notebook and just got a MBP

With the upgrades i put in it im hoping to get about 2700 on ebay, enough to buy the 1499 imac and a 1099 macbook..

i may just wait until the new macbook revision or i might not at all,

its just that i find myself unplugging and plugging my mbp to its power and ext monitor all the time to use it as a desktop, and its getting troublesome,

however at the same time ill have two computers again something i got away from with the mbp,

so what do you guys think? the guys at macrumors shot me down and told me to keep the mbp pretty much 100%

I'd keep the MBP. If you buy an iMac, you would basically be downgrading.

Spec wise, it is true that you would be downgrading to go to the iMac. You have the same processor and have maxed out memory, plus your video card is better.

That being said, I'm selling my MBP to buy a new iMac, but I'm doing it for financial reasons really. I don't use it as a portable and will be making about $400 off the sell of it and my display.

IMO, having 2 machines is a pain: keeping data synchronized gets too complicated too fast. If you only need a laptop only very occasionally, I guess it's not so bad.

On the other hand, if the only thing you miss is the ability to unplug easily, you could give the NewerTech BookEndz dock a look. True, it's priced ridiculously, but it'll mean the only cable you have to worry about is the MagSafe power (Apple patents are annoying).

Might as well stick with one computer. I totally agree that two is a pain in the butt to deal with.
