Hi doctormario,
It really depends on how serious you are about your audio and how important this file is and how much you value quality in this instance.
You can record sound via the inbuilt mic using GarageBand and save that as a file or export it to iTunes as an MP3, then convert it further to either AAC,WAVE or AIFF file.
VOICE RECORDINGS (GarageBand)
This link mentions using an external mic but you can get a voice recording into GB using the internal mic too, I've done it myself but the quality isn't that great.
Your MacBook come with a combined optical digital audio input/audio line in (minijack). The audio input jack is a line-level mini jack, much as you might expect to find on mini-disk recorders etc. You can't simply plug in a microphone as it would be way too quiet. You can consider adding an audio mixer, with multiple microphones, if need be, so the main or aux output of that mixer would be perfect to feed into the MacBook. Any microphone fed into your Mac needs to be amplified in some way and an audio mixer is an obvious remedy.
