i am one repair away from getting a brand new mac book pro sent to me from apple. last night while watching a movie i saw 5 dead pixels, and called today to tell them. prior to this i had my MBP sent in 2x for busted LCD screens, so if i verify the pixels tomorrow i get a new one .

but now of course i cant find the pixels. how can i test for that so they show up. i guess just a black screen wont show them, something in the movie must have been different then a background thats black.

help me get a new machine!

That's a horrible title for this thread-it implies you're trying to defraud Apple. It appears that you are actually simply trying to demonstrate a real problem, which is completely different.

Your "dead pixels" may be demonstrated in a number of ways, but it depends on what you mean by "dead." Sometimes pixels fail black, sometimes red, blue or green, and sometimes white. The best way to identify a bad pixel is to know which way it failed and put something on the screen that will contrast it-a light gray shows up permanently black pixels, while dark gray is great for permanently white ones. Use orange for perma-blue, yellow for perma-red, and purple for perma-green (those three will look really bad when they show up).

I like a program called Pixel Check. Very basic, easy. I think you can find it on versiontracker as well.

Now, just to set your expectations accordingly, Apple does not have a definite number of repairs or a policy stating replacements are given. It is on a case by case basis. I've seen many situations, and sometimes they do, and sometimes they don't.

Just curious, what were the other LCD replacements for? And when were they?
