hi, so i'm buying the Logitech Z-5500 speaker system, and want to connect it to my macbook. in the user guide document, it says that it has a "headphone out/optical digital output port" with my old system i just plugged in the green cable to that. but for this system i can use an optical out. i was wondering if this was compatible and what the quality difference was. TIA

That's a Toslink adapter that should cost you about $5.
