I just purchased a MBP 15" 2.2 over the weekend. Overall I am very happy with the laptop. However there is a very odd squeak coming from the front of the case just in front of the hard drive. It only occurs when I put pressure on that section of the case but it’s fairly loud.
I have had a lot of experience with Apple laptops since the G3 Wall Street and have not heard anything exactly like this before. It almost sounds like something is being compressed and then released. After some research into the newest generation of MBP. I was able to determine there is a new vibration reduction system mounted on top of the hard drive. I can only guess this compression squeak (sorry it’s very hard to explain a sound) is from this new system.
I was just wondering if other people have this same noise on there new MBPs? To hear the noise I squeezed bottom case gently just in front of the bevel and to the left of the track pad (The laptop has to be open).
This isn’t something that really annoys me or anything I would just like to know what it is
TIA
