I am wondering where the Macbooks are made? ie: US, China, Taiwan. I live in Canada but am looking to buy one in New Hampshire where there is no tax and the price should be less with the Canadian dollar almost equal to the US dollar. So I am wondering if I can get it across the border tax and duty free?

Asustek is the ODM for the MacBook, and they have manufacturing facilities in Taiwan (Taipei, Lujhu, Nankan, Kweishan) and in mainland China (Suzhou) (source).

The MB is produced by ASUSTek Computer Inc. and Foxconn (Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd.). MBs leave China either from Souzhou or Shenzhen.

Welcome! We're glad you're here. But please note a few things-like our search feature. We've discussed this more than a few times here (and from a number of angles, too). The responses you've gotten are accurate and concise-that's kind of typical for straightforward questions posted here.

See ya around!

Not legally, no. Duty is payable on items worth more than $60.00 CAN.

I go to school in Calgary but am from Pennsylvania. I found that the MacBook is actually 40 dollars cheaper(depending on exchange) through the US store.

In a box, it might raise questions. Carried in a laptop bag, no one will ask you anything.

Yeah, I had it shipped to my parents home in Pennsylvania. They then shipped it to me in Calgary.
