I've noticed this small 1cm blotch on my screen that looks to be a dirty fingerprint mark, except as if it got on there thru the other side..

Is this a common problem with MacBookPro screens?

I've tried every safe cleaning methods to try and take it off, but its apparent that its not a fingerprint mark... should I take it to the Apple store and get them to have a look at it?

I've had this MBP for less than a year (10monthsold)

When you are still within warranty you should take your machine back for inspection or repair immediately before a problem gets worse and your warranty runs out. You shouldn't think twice about it.

I actually think I have something that may be similar to what you have. It's on the far left side of my screen, and is a greyish smudge about 8mm long and 2mm wide. It's only really noticeable on a black background, otherwise it just blends into the background.

My MacBook Pro, unfortunately, is no longer under warranty, so there's not much I can do, and it doesn't bother me enough.
