I've been running my first generation MacBook Pro for over a year and a half now. I love it and will never return to Windows () as a primary OS. I have never had a any real problems with OS X.4, and if I did they were easily solved.

However, lately I've been experiencing system hangs while the computer comes out of sleep. I'll get "beach balled" and then the system will completely hang after clicking the mouse, forcing me to physically restart the computer by holding down the PWR button for 6 seconds.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

It sounds like it could be bad RAM. To check whether it is or not, boot from your Apple install disk and choose the full advanced hardware test. This will test your RAM thoroughly, and will let you know if it finds any problems.

Hopefully it is something far more simple and software-related, so as to not cost you any money!
