Hi everyone,

My DVD drive in my 17" Powerbook G4 has been strange lately, instead of the normal sound on startup, it makes a really dim sound. Any Ideas I am afraid to test it incase it blows up or something! Thanks

Hi,
Is the sound the only thing different? That's really not a good indication that your DVD drive is bad. More info would make it more easier to help.

Have you tried inserting any type of media in it(DVD,Blank DVD-R/+,CD-R/+)?

Don't worry your DVD drive wouldn't blow up, How would it?

I suppose you're right. Instead of the normal sound, it is slower sounding. Not as fast.
