Is this available anywhere? If not, is it a licensing issue from Apple? I'd love to have an inexpensive alternative, and someone usually does a good job of making a lightweight, portable one for Apple products.

I second that, mine works only sometimes and the cheapest i found was for $50 on ebay.

The other problem with Apple not licensing Magsafe is the lack of car and plane adaptors.

You'd think they wouldn't mind the extra revenue on licensing fees in lieu of sales of their proprietary bricks.

The MagSafe end attaches to the Mac. The other end can connect to any power source with standard power supply adaptor.
