I was wondering if anyone is having the same problem with iChat as I am. When I'm in iChat and I go to another application, it goes away completely. It doesn't sign off or anything but it disappears until I either cycle through the apps via Apple + Tab or choosing the iChat icon in the dock.
Let's say I have the Finder, Safari and iChat open and I'm currently using iChat. When using Apple + Tab to go to Safari, I select Safari and I'm in my web browser. If I were to do Apple + Tab and go to another open app, I would see Safari, iChat and Finder in that order, since that is the order I have most recently been using the apps. For me, it doesn't matter how few or how many apps I have open, iChat will always go to the end of that list. I'm used to using my browser and iChat apps almost all of the time. In the past, if I were using Safari and wanted to go to iChat I'd do the Apple + Tab and when I was in iChat and needed to go back to Safari I'd hit Apple + Tab within a second to go back and forth rather quickly. Now, I can't do that because it gets sent to the end of the line of the applications open and it's just annoying. Plus, if I'm in iChat and need to go to my Finder (which doesn't take up the whole screen), iChat vanishes completely. In the past, it would just go into the background, still visible, so that if I needed to go back, I could drag my cursor to the buddy list or open chat window and bring it to the forefront.
Maybe no one else has had this issue. I've been searching for articles that might explain why this is occurring but have yielded no results. In my preferences, I have checked the 'Bring iChat to the front when accepting a chat invitation' and this doesn't work. I receive little warning, save for the iChat icon bounce only one time in the dock when someone writes me. I thought before it would continue to bounce until you went to the iChat program to see what was happening. I'm positive that when I was in Safari and someone new IM'd me, the preview chat notification would come up over the Safari window I was in informing me someone wanted to talk. That does not happen anymore. I only receive the preview box, (if I'm lucky enough to hear the sound it makes) when I go into iChat. I have added iChax if this bit of information is of any use, in addition to the above information...
This is really just an inconvenience for me than anything else. I just really enjoyed the way it was before and now that it's not, I get annoyed.
