wierd issue with macbook

I have a c2d macbook running 10.4.9

Where it shows the % of my battery that is left, it keeps flashing from a % to a black X. This happens both when it is connected to the AC adapter and when it is not. I have tried reseating the battery already, are there any other things i can try?
Macbook Pro 15" / C2D 2.2 / 2GB / 120GB
