Hello,

I just bought a 15" MBP. Brand new.

Callibrated the batttery. With wireless on it gives me just under three hours of battery life. I turned wirless off, and it went up to just over 3 hours of battery life. This is with no programs running.

Is this normal? I remember my G4 powerbook having that kind of battery life - heck that one would go well above 3 hours sometimes. I thought the battery lives were improved...

Thanks!

Not really; my experience with my most recent Mac, a 2.33Ghz Core 2 Duo; 2GB; 160GB 5400-rpm MBP, has been exactly as you describe. I've come to learn that this is most often the case.

I get around 3 hours (usually a few minutes less) with my 2.0ghz core duo MBP. The battery life isn't that great, which is really unfortunate because aside from that and a few other small issues it's a really great machine.

Just over 3 hours is on the 'good' side of typical.

Same here. There doesn't seem to be much difference in battery life between the Core Duo and C2D models (which I believe use the same battery). But keep in mind that three hours is VERY GOOD longevity for a full sized notebook computer. Lots of others don't last much past two hours with their wireless on.

I'm getting over 3 hours with this new MBP 2.4 with the LED backlit screen. It is noticeably longer - using the exact same battery, had to swap them on a trip, so am using my 'backup' - than the original MBP 2.0

Can you quantify this "noticeably longer" period? I have seen times posted of anywhere from 3:04 to 3:20 on the LED lit MBPs, but in a variety of configurations (wireless on/off, wired ethernet, etc.).

Hmmm... ok then, fair enough. Actually, yesterday I saw it jump up to over 5 (a lie), then drop to 4, then to 3:30ish. In general, without wireless turned on, it seems to be doing around that (usually closer to 3:20 give or take).

Guess I should be happy then

But I really do hope they are able to get things to do much better than that soon - it only seems right!

Thanks!

3:20 with wireless turned on is awesome for a notebook with that kind of horsepower.
