I'm guessing they would be updated before the end of the year... if that is what you mean by "new". I'm guessing that they won't redesign it... yet.

It will be updated before the year is out along with the Mac Pro, but as far as a redesign... that could be further down the road.

It will be Q1 2008 till we get the new Penryn MBP - expect the announcement no earlier than MWSF.
Now's a very good time to buy a MBP.

Simon is right. The updates were not that long ago, and there really is no reason to update minor features right now.
Unless you want to wait until next year, buy now. In general, just buy now. Things move to quickly to be always waiting for `the next new thing` to come out.

I agree in the whole concept of not waiting for the "next best thing". But what about anticipating the next price decrease? Any guesses as to when the prices for MBP may drop? Thanks.

MBP prices have remained constant ever since the introduction of the MBP line. With every update Apple left the prices where they were and updated the feature set. IMHO there's no reason to believe this will change anytime soon. Refurb models carry discounts anywhere between 10% and 30%.
