I have a Core Duo MacBook, and my Superdrive is giving me a hard time lately. It will read some disks and then some it will reject.
If I put in a comercial DVD or my OSX DVDs, they will load fine. Also, I can burn a CD-R (Memorex is the brand I have). However, if I put in a DVD-R (Memorex) it will not read it, and spit it back out. Same thing with DL DVD-R. However, I put in a Spin-X DVD-R once and it worked fine, but now the Spin-X wont load either.
I am convinced that my Superdrive is defective. I talked to Apple on the phone, and the girl helping me said since the OSX DVDs work that there is probably nothing wrong, and it is the disks. I call Bullsh*t on that theory. It's quite possible that it's not completely defective, as it does read some disks, but I can't even burn off a DVD-R if I wanted to make some backups or a movie.
So I am planning to take it to an Apple service center in my city (no Apple stores

), and see if they will fix it for me. I still have my 1 year warranty, so would this be covered?
