I've never heard the fan kick in since I got the think 3 weeks ago, and it gets seriously hot, very quickly. As in its painful to touch the bottom of it for more then a few seconds after about 10 minutes of non intensive use. I have a terrible battery though that I'm replacing and I heard that that can cause a rise in temperature, but that doesnt explain the lack of and sound from the fan...

idk...anyone?

Run Apple Hardware Test. If a fan is broken AHT should report it.

Your Install disc might have the AHT. It will be labeled on the DVD if it is. To know for certain, do an option-powerup to see the startups appear. Then put the DVD in. If you have AHT, more than one startup will appear. It should be self-explanatory which one is the AHT when it shows up. The boot-up with the AHT start-up.

Get one form a friend. Or go to an Apple store and ask. Maybe they can help out.
