Hi Everyone
My girlfriend earlier this week bought a refurbd powerbook 12" 1.5 80gig 512 ram. All was working fine with it intil i decided to adjust the volume. The far left hand side of the powerbook 'above the esc and screen brightness keys' started making a very 'very' fast clicking noise. If anyone has any ideas i would be extreamly greatfull. I think she cant get a refund now due to the arguments with the company + it would be easier to keep it if it is a small problem. I dont think its the hard drive as it only happned when i adjusted the volume, altho when i muted it,the clicking continued. It sounded like it was comming from the speaker?. Like i said i dont think its the drive as i think the drive clicking would be difrent sound, and im pretty sure the drive is at the bottom left of the machine?..........
Ps i wouldent buy from cancom

Check the external audio using speakers or headphones. Plugging in a mini jack should disable the speakers and stop the click (maybe). If it persists on the external speakers, its either software or logic board. If its the speaker you may need a new one of those.

Thanx for the reply mate......I took it to the apple store. Aparently if it was anything expensive it would come from the bottom half of the machine, A mac genius told me it is probably the fan getting caught on something and not to worry about it if i havent herd it since. I have noticed one other thing tho that must be related.......When i adjust the volume i here a very quiet noise before the regular sound when you adjust the volume?

That is normal for the 12" powerbook actually. Mine does it whenever there's a sound if the computer has been quiet for a while.
