Hi,
Is it possible you think to use a iBook G4 power adaptor on a Powerbook 17"?
Many many thanks
The powerbook I have is G4 17“ from a coulple of years ago. In the manual it says that the power adaptor as to be a 65W one. I have the impression that the iBook adaptor I have is 45W.

On the iBook adaptor is written: AC input 1.2A ADP-45UH V85.
If it's a 45W, you think I may damage my powerbook in some ways?
Many thanks.

You can, but it will charge much slower, and obviously provide less power overall... but it should be ok.

And if you run out of power, and you plug in the adapter, it will take about 5 - 10 min for it to come back up instead of instantly like a 65watt adapter.

How many amps will the PB 17" draw? If the ibook's adapter is rated for only 1.2A, and the PB tries to draw more, this could cause some problems -- potentially a fire. I've seen surge protectors melt and catch fire when used with a device drawing too many amps (e.g., 17 amps on a strip rated for 13 amps max.).

It will work as noted above -- slower charging and delayed power-up time -- as I powered my cousin's PBG4 17" when she forgot to bring her charger along. I can't vouch for long-term use, though. I've noticed that the lower-powered chargers don't really seem to give the bigger laptops "enough" even when I've plugged them the whole day.
