my computer screen is acting up. i brought it into a mac mechanics type store and they said its the logic board and i will have to replace it.but my screen still works every once in a while so i was wondering if my screen would work if the logic board waS shot. i also have a ibook where the logic board is shot and the computer wont even turn on. can someone please expain to me what a logic board does and what i should do. everyones is telling me to buy a new computer but my computer does work sometimes and i would rather try to salvage it so i dont have to switch everything out. please let me know.

It could be the ribbon cable between the computer and the screen. Sometimes they can fray -- depending on the model and how it's engineered -- causing this kind of screen trouble.

Apple or an Apple Store might give a better diagnosis.
