Hi, I am trying, from several apps, to import pictures ie. into Powerpoint but when i go to the iPhoto library and double click on it the actual photo folders and files are not accessible. all my photos have been imported into the iPhoto library using the import to Library option. I have several hundred photos but cannot access them. the only work around is to export the pictures to the desktop and then import from the Desktop.
any help on getting around this? i might add i am new to Macs
cheers

Not sure what this has to do with MacBooks Pros or Powerbooks, but I'm not sure I understand the problem. Export from iPhoto to somewhere (like the desktop) then import into another program. That's the way it works. What behavior are you expecting?

You should be able to find the original files inside your iPhoto library folder too.

I am new to Macs - probably should have stated that up front, so apologise for posting in the wrong section. but essentially i expect to be able to import a picture from any application ie. Powerpoint from the pop up dialog box. i would hope to not have to export my pictures from iPhoto to another folder location to be able to do this. At the moment this is the only way I can import a picture into Powerpoint, word etc.... The dialog box that opens when i try and perform this action allows me to point to the iPhoto library but i cannot drill down any lower and select individual pictures. there must be a better way?

if you can see the pictures in iPhoto, try clicking the photo you want and DRAGGING into the app you want.
if that doesn't work, go the (in powerpoint) insert, picture, from file, ..... =/ your iphoto library folder is lightened isn't it? for some reason iphoto 08 makes mine not available to powerpoint. hrmm, it worked in '06

I've had issues between iphoto and ilife. When photos were imported into iphoto I had to restart iphoto and then start up ilife to get them to appear in ilife.

i can view the iPhoto library in the Open FIle Dialog box - say from iTunes when I am trying to add a picture as an album artwork, but no pictures or folders are viewable below this level. the iPhoto library underneath the Pictures folder is not highlighted - the Photo Booth folder is - but there ain't nothing below it.
i have over 1000 photos in my iPhoto library which are all viewable from iPhoto - but sadly not from anywhere else
Is there some setting i need to specify so other apps know i have photos in iPhoto? it's like any other application cannot find my picture files????? it's weird and i do feel like banging my head against the wall....
