Hi guys, i just converted to mac, bought a powerbook 12" from ebay and am loving the build quality. Its a UK 1.5mhz with 512megs ram (soon to change!). The problem i am having is that the keyboard is a litlte intermittent, the numeric keys will kick in when i press down on o, u l and so forth, even tho the num lock key isn't on, and after hitting the num lock on and off it goes back to normal, till five minutes later....i figured the keyboard will need replacing, and its rather hard to find 12" keyboards, i was wondering if the 15.4" keyboards are the same as the 12" ones ? or are they different sizes or fixtures ?

Cheers for your help in advance, oh also, is there a tool to make the mousepad go faster, i have it on the fastest setting in systems preference but i still feel its a little slow!

Cheers again.

Gill.

There is a 3rd party app called sidetrack which may be faster, I find non-apple drivers tend not to be as smooth though.
As for keyboards, the 15" PowerBook keyboards are very different I'm afraid. Not to nitpick, but PowerBooks are 15.2", the 15.4" is a MacBook Pro. Those keyboards are different again.
You should check the machines warranty out. Since you bought it used and it is the last version of the 12", it may still be under Applecare of higher education warranty. You might get lucky.
There is somewhere you can do this on the Apple site, but I can't find it. Ring Applecare or drop into a store or AASP.
