I left my power adaptor for my MacBook Pro at another location whic is 2 hours away. Needless to say, I'd rather puchase a replacement than drive back to get it. The Apple replacements are $79, and have a horrible rating at their online store. Is there a better replacement I can get? Something improved (for travel, etc.)? Or am I stuck with the Apple brand?

I've never seen a third party option, and Apple's are correctly rated quite low.

They're rated low because of the frayed power connecotrs that we've seen on these forums.

That said, what was the condition of the power adapter you left behind? If it was in good condition, I would suspect the one you get when you buy will probably not fray either. The frayed connections I've seen are part of poor strain relief, but is definitely exacerbated by the stress I've seen some magsafe connectors put through (stretched cords, connectos with cords pulled/stretched at the connection point, and the like). Not to say it's the user's fault, but if you avoid straining the cords in ways the design fails to protect against, then I think you'll be okay.

I think there is no 3rd part option since the magsafe adapter has a patent. You will need to stick with the Apple brick for the replacement.

My cords have never frayed, so I think I'll be okay with the Apple brand. I was just hoping for something better. I don't know, maybe a solar powered brick, or one that glowed in the dark. Something fun.

The (hopefully) fixed adaptors are finally on the way. I got my shipping email from Apple after ordering it 3 weeks ago.
