hi
I have an iBook g3 clamshell 366mhz with 128mb ram
when I try to play the video streams on sites such as youtube.com,
the sound is very out of sync with the video, and the video doesn't hardly play at all
is my processor to slow, or can this be corrected by adding more memory?
any ideas

Nothing you can do to make your ancient (by computer standards) iBook feel young and nimble again, I'm afraid.

Memory might help a bit. Especially if you are running X. But otherwise, your CPU is too slow I'm afraid.

If you're interested in getting a new computer, which I recommend, consider a used or refurbished one.Used iBook G4s can run under $500, and refurbished MacBooks run around $949. You may be able to find PowerBook G4 12" models as low as $750. Generally, those are your best choices for getting a new laptop! Check http://lowendmac.com/deals.shtml for more info!

Adding more memory will boost the performance a bit, but not much. I have my clamshell maxed out to 576MB of RAM (specs in sig), and it does play video slightly better than it did with 128MB, but not fantastically; it's still slightly jumpy and the sound is out of sync. Sadly, this is something you'll have to live with--the G3 at these speeds just doesn't have the grunt to run Flash video smoothly. I have a 500MHz G3 iMac with a full gig of RAM, and its performance is only marginally better than the iBook.
You're basically left with one of two options: one--max out the RAM to 576MB (it will support a 512MB SODIMM, contrary to what Apple's official specs), which will improve performance a bit; or two--trade up to a better iBook/MacBook, as ryanxb suggests. If you're dead-set on watching YouTube videos, that's your best option. I would suggest at least a G4 though--I don't think the G3 handles flash video well, regardless of clock-speed.
On a more general note, running either Tiger or Panther on 128MB is horrible. I wouldn't recommend anything less than 576MB, especially under Tiger.
