I'm using a 2 month old macbook pro with the tiger it came with. today, all of a sudden I noticed my firefox settings/bookmarks had disapeared. I reset the computer and now all default settings show in every app, with the previous data now gone. For ex. itunes, iphoto ect all lost their content, my dock is back to its large size, and his leads me to my major concern: all of my desktop files don't appear on my desktop, and my music folders and many other files are now missing from the finder, but if I search for them in spotlight they show up. What could've possibly happened? I am relatively new to using macs and this is my first real problem..So is it possible to revert the hardrive to a previous day? What are my options here, do I have wipe the hard drive and reinstall OX X?
thanks for any help

Is your system set to automatically log you in? Sounds like you're being logged in as a new user for some reason. Have a look at Users & Accounts in System Preferences. Make sure the proper user is set to log in automatically.

How much free space do you have on your hard drive?
Also, please refer to this thread to see if you have this issue: http://forums.macnn.com/90/mac-os-x/...y-user-folder/
