Couldn't find the right forum to post this so I might as well do it here since I want to buy a MBP.

My situation is that I am a student and live in the US, but my credit card is from Mexico so I can't use it to pay at the online store (I am at the online store because I want spanish keyboard/OS). I have a bank account here but I have a $1,000 charge limit so I can't use it to pay. Buying in Mexico isn't really an option since it comes out to be about 40% more than here (and I don't have 40% more). I'll call my bank on tuesday and see if there is someway to increase my charge limit but I doubt it'll be possible.

What other way "do I have/can you think of" to pay for a MBP using the Apple online store?

take a cash advance on the card & deposit that money into your checking account. THEN call your bank and explain in detail what you want to do, and ask for a temporary or 1 time increase in the daily limit so that you can pay for the machine. You'll have to call Apple & get the account info. Years ago, I set up a wire transfer directly to a merchant notta problemo when I needed to make a large purchase from my checking account but had NO credit cards.
Signatures are ugly. Bitchy women are ugly......YOU do the math :)

Cash advances have incredibly high interest rates. I'd look for another way to pay for the mac.

The reason why apple does this, is the very fact of people from other countries coming over here and buying them instead of buying them from their local apple store.

Why not open up a credit card from the US? or even an apple line of credit.

I do understand the idea of buying in my "local" apple store, the fact is that I'm living here now so this is actually my local apple store. I guess I'm going to have to see if, first I can call the bank, explain and hope for a one time increment type of thing. If not then maybe take out another line of credit, although I really don't want to do that. And I need to change this machine already. Thanks for all the help guys.

You can check with your local (US) bank to see if they have within their services an account (virtual credit card account) that can be used to purchase things via internet. This type of accounts do not have a plastic, but rather have a VISA/Mastercard number, expiration date and so on. You just deposit the amount that you want to spend on that account-virtual credit card account and whenever you buy stuff from the internet you just charge it to that virtual credit card account (is a way to control your spending and preventing theft). Since that virtual credit card account has a US address, you shouldn't have a problem. Also, use your student status to have a better price from the original price list.
A lot of US universities have ways to buy Apple equipment thru them (ask around - in my case it was thru the library) at special prices. I'm not sure if you can order build to order Apples this way.
Good luck.
