Since someone closed my post.

I've tried everything to isolate this freezing issue. I'm looking for a program to run some tests. The Rember program said memory was okay, so not sure.

Also, thanks for welcoming me to the forums and closing my post and not explaining why. Appreciate that. I am a big mac user and this is the only machine I've had trouble on like this and wanted some advice, since I was at the end of the road on it.

In my experience, "computer freezing" is often related to heat (this ain't a pun!). As the machine heats up, something goes out of tolerance and the machine freaks out or just "locks up". It could be memory, but it could also be the CPU or any other component that communicates on or with the address and data buses.

A way to test for this kind of condition is to determine if the machine only freezes up after it has warmed up. A way to influence the amount of internal heat in the machine is to place a small fan blowing air at the machine such that the ambient air around the machine is cooler than it ordinarily would be.

The G4's internals rise in temperature rather quickly from ambient temperatures to about 120° F. If you find this freezing to be more frequent as your day goes on, I'd give it a high probability of a heat problem.

It could be a failing hard drive. What PowerBook do you have? Is it making any odd noises? What is the SMART status listed as in Disk Utility?
