I have a PowerBook G4 17", and an HP deskjet 952C connected. It has always printed fine, until recently when the color cartridge ran out. I replaced the color cartridge, but the Mac still tells me that "The Color Print Cartridge is out of ink", and I can't get past that message to print anything. I have tried everything including disconnecting/reconnecting, restarting, deleting printer driver and reloading, nothing works. The same message comes up when I try "Calibrate", "Test", "Align" under "Utility".

Yes I did use a refilled ink cartridge. The HP printer recognized it and printed the test pages just fine, and when the printer is hooked up to an old laptop, it prints fine from there. Only the Mac won't recognize the ink cartridge.

Anyone have any idea what to do?
Thanks.

At what point and where do you get the error message exactly?

Steve

When I send a print job, the printer starts up as if it's going to start printing, then a few seconds later the message pops up on the printer utility screen where the prints jobs are listed. The only options in the message are "delete jobs", "stop all jobs" and "stop job".

The exact same message comes up when I try "Align", "Test", "Calibrate" under Printer Setup Utility. Those pop up immediately as soon as I click on "Align", "Test" etc.

Hey Steve, I have fixed the problem. I went to HP and downloaded the latest version of driver for Deskjet 952c and it took the error message away. Thanks!
