Bad logic board?

Hey guys,

Sometimes (and very randomly) my Powerbook randomly changes the speaker setting from "Internal Speakers" to "Headphones" without me even plugging in anything in the headphone slot. I'll be listening to iTunes and the music will just stop playing (or any noise from my speakers).

I've had this problem with Tiger and Leopard. This occurs randomly, and maybe once or twice every 2 weeks. I had my logic board replaced 5 months ago by Apple. Also, sometimes my "F" button will randomly type, even when I don't hit it. For example, I will hit "Enter" while typing in a word document and the letter "F" will just appear before the "Enter" key registers. This is a random occurrence as well, but happens more often than the other issue.

Do you guys think this is an issue with my logic board? I'd hate to be without a computer for another week, but it's a good thing that I still have a few months left on Applecare.

Thanks,

Jason

If you have a bad MLB Apple Hardware Test should tell you so. AHT is on your install DVD. Insert the DVD, boot and hold d.

AHT hardly ever catches bad logic boards. Blown device controllers and bad VRAM are about all it ever gets. This a weird problem. If it happened before the board swap, its probably not the board. It does sound like something is loose in the headphone jack. Does it ever switch back to speakers when headphones are connected?
