I was wondering if Apple Care or the warranty covers sudden cracks in the case?

I have a macbook that is about 4 months old and has suddenly and unexplainably developed a crack on the edge of the palm rest (Just above the right light indicator that flashes when in sleep mode).

Anyone?

Do you carry it one handed with the display open with your hand holding that corner?

I've seen a couple of machines do this, but none within 4 months. All the ones i've seen are over 12 months old and get moved around the office by the method above.

I wouldn't like to say if Apple would cover it, you can only ask.

I do that all the time, am i not supposed to? Oh yeah and ive dropped it once holding it like that haha but it was only a small fall so everythings okay.

Oh and in relation to the crack, i don't really know, take it to an apple store and find out, or even better, ring them first and ask them, and then take it in.

Apple covered it...Replaced the 'piece' that fits around the keyboard and I got it back the next day.

Apparently, they concede that it's a 'design flaw' and that the crack is the result of the (2) lips on the inside top edge of the screen that makes contact against the palm rest when closing...They say that repeated closing eventually makes the palm rest crack in exactly that location.

I was kinda disappointed to hear that and that there's no real 'fix' for it...I don't slam my macbook shut when I close it so it's not the result of abuse...This problem sounds like it will affect all macbook users eventually....And, sadly, it's a problem that will continue and in all likelihood far after the warranty covers it.

I did, however, come up with a couple of different 'fixes' that might help alleviate the problem that probably are kinda logical...Some time of silicon or felt adhesive strip that lines up on the palm rest to cushion the lips of the display when closing the macbook...It'd have to be thin so as not to keep the macbook from completely closing...I think some kind of adhesive strip or thin cushions could probably be found for cheap at the local hardware store.

Radtech also makes a fix of their own, interesting the cottage industries of design flaws, eh?...Only issue I can discover with these are complaints that they may turn a yellowish color over a short period of time.

Notebook Display Cushions, Protect Keyboard, Screen on Apple Notebook Computers - Wildeepz - RadTech Products

This looks promising too

Anyone else have any other recommendations?
