This is what my screen does almost every time I open up my PowerBook G4...
It does this until I bend the screen back and forth 3 or 4 times. It does fine, but sometimes randomly pops back to the state above.
Is this fixable? Anyone know? I've been needing an excuse to upgrade to an Intel Mac; could this be it?

I had two 15" 1.33GHz PowerBooks that had exactly the same story. First, screen began to "split" on two peaces, and after a week display stopped functioning at all...

Looks like a display cable problem to me. Fixable? I dunno. Depends on what cable and where the problem is.

I also thought that there was a problem with cable, but no... I even bought a new display cable, but it didn't help. Problem was solved only after I changed a display...

That's too bad. The cable should be the first thing to check (especially since it'll be a LOT less expensive), because it gets bent and twisted as the lit opens and closes. Having the display be your problem is both unusual and unfortunate.
