So I picked up a little G4 Powerbook 12" (1.5, 512mb,80gb,SD).

I have a copy of the Apple Service Diagnostic DVD for the 2005 systems. Everytime I try and run it, it says the PB is an unsupported system.

What gives? I really want to make sure that the PB is in good health.

And yes I did try the DVD on another system - ibook g4 1.33 - which works just fine. Tests all came back as passed.

Any ideas? Or how about other tools to fully test the PB.......

probably need a newer diagnostic dvd.

meanwhile...why not just use it? surf, do whatever, burn a dvd...isn't real-world usage the goal anyway?

(just my 2cents...)

Good point King. Screw the DVD test. Just use it for a while. If it works, you know the system is ok.

Its should be alright. Most people I know with 12in powerbooks still have them running decently. The only problem that ever befalls them is when the HD goes out.

I ended up just using the PB for the pas 3 days without shutting down - only sleeping.

Everything seems to work fine - only time will tell.

I would just use it and only worry about the diagnostic CDs if something should go terribly wrong...
