I was wondering if anyone knew what it means when your mac just repeats (but cuts off early) the mac boot sound?

It'll play the entire sound first, then repeats about a 1 long sound and just continues.

Which Mac? Are you be able to run the Apple Hardware Test disc?

I get this problem, too. My MB plays the boot sound, then the end of the boot sound repeatedly for another half dozen or so times each time I switch it on.

Any ideas?

Take it in. Sounds like botched firmware to me.

I'm wondering if this is tha same as me. I booted, heard about 8 startup chimes before I just held the power button and ried again. It works at the monet.

Also, might this be connected at all to random modes of putting itself to sleep and not waking up?

EDIT: and now multiple kernel panics....? Ruh-roh. Help me.

Your machine is broken.

Run Apple Hardware Test, or take it in to a repair center.

Have you upgraded the RAM?

If so, remove it and replace the original RAM and see if that fixes your problems.
