Powerbook G4 1 GHz / 4 years old / Tiger

I calibrated my battery by draining it completely until the computer slept, letting it sleep for about 10 hours, then charged it to full while using it.

When I plugged it back in following the sleep, the 'time until charged" clock started at about 30 hours, then slowly climbed up to 260 hours until the battery was charged. The same ridiculous times are displayed when I unplug the computer and start to use the battery. The count down starts at about 60 hours, decreases until about 30 hours, then shows 20 minutes, and the battery promptly dies about 2 minutes later.

Anyone have an idea what this means? My battery is old (440 cycles) but I still get about 20-30 minutes out of it following this calibration. It's not a big deal, just wondering if it's happened to anyone else.

Thanks!

When I had a battery that was going bad prematurely (PB G4 1.67, 17"), I was getting strange time to charge and discarge readings. As it charged, I was getting an indicated time to "full" that kept increasing to ridiculously long times.

I sent it to Apple under warranty, and they replaced the battery. That fixed the problem. However, my current battery isn't doing very well either. My cycle count is at 248, and full charge capacity is only 3156 mAh. It only lasts me an hour or hour and a half now. My wife's 15" with 170 cycles has 3574 mAh full capacity. These 17" ones just don't last long I guess...
